If all goes well this will be my new daily driver by this time next week.
This does mean I’ll have to sell the Ranger though. It’s been a good truck. Ready for something new though.

Your tired of having a good truck so you buy bad truck??

I’m tired of having a truck with 2.5 seats so I buy a truck with 6 seats.
I’m tired of having a truck with an infamous engine (vulcan v6), so I buy a truck with a famously reliable and useful engine (24 valve cummins).
I’m tired of having a truck with 180,000 miles, so I buy a truck with 82,000 miles.

Might have to change your username.... slightly.

Ah Cummings, ok. Good truck! It’s more GM than dodge then. Engine will run for ever and everything else slowly breaks but truck keeps going. Tis nice looking truck!

This is a turning point.

You mean if the Slant6 swap goes as plan? I can vouch for it as a decent truck engine.

Thanks! It was my grandfather’s.Always garage kept, and only put about 2000 miles on it in the past 3 years. I’m expecting some maintenance from it sitting and only being started 2 or three times this year.
Also rather concerning, it’s on it’s original 18 year old tires. First thing to get fixed.

Hmm. Putting the Cummins in the Dart isn’t that bad of an idea...

How’d you like it? I hear the engine is the sole redeeming feature, but the body on this one is essentially new, 82,000 miles garage kept.
Those are the same specs except this one is a 2wd.

holy shit! 18 year old OEM tires!! that’s insane! yeah this should be good truck, you don’t live in the land of salt winters do you? all that virgin garage kept dodge is tasty snack. I never see those on the road with less than 3rd of the body missing from rust any more up here.
I wish I lived south or west for this reason. old cars are just not worth money around here.

My dad has a 2000 2500 4x4 too, but with an auto. It’s a great truck...but it’s been garage kept and treated properly it’s whole life. The bodies on them don’t do last if not cared for. The interior is fine...nothing special, but he hasn’t had any premature wear issues. The only issues he’s had are all related to the transmission, which the auto is known to be junk. The manual though is rock solid.

I have one year of college left in the mountains of NC where we do use salt, but I hardly drive in the snow, and my parking lot doesn’t get plowed.
Hopefully I take it with me somewhere dry, and can get a garage.
I plan on taking care of it, but I have to accept that it is a truck and expected to do work. I might end up using it to tow a race trailer from NC to Oregon and back this summer, we’ll see, more than likely we’ll use a rental rig, but it could definitely pull it off.

only grief it gave me was the 2000s had bad fuel transfer pumps which took out the injection pump when they failed. but there was a TSB for it and it was within the warranty period, so no big deal. That aside, it could pull a 20' boat and not notice it was there.
